Welcome, and thank you for considering taking this step toward your well-being. You may be coming to therapy because you are carrying the weight of grief, navigating a difficult life transition, feeling overwhelmed in your relationships, or trying to make sense of experiences that others may not fully understand. Perhaps you have been holding a lot on your own for some time and are looking for a space where you can finally speak openly and feel supported. Whatever has brought you here, you do not have to face it alone.

In our work together, my goal is to provide a supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard and respected. Therapy can be a place to slow down, reflect on your experiences, and begin to make sense of what you’re going through. I approach counselling as a collaborative process, where we work together to explore your concerns, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and find ways to move toward the changes that feel meaningful to you.

I often work with individuals navigating grief and loss, life transitions, and relational challenges. I also have a strong interest in supporting women navigating reproductive and hormonal health concerns such as endometriosis, fibroids, perimenopause, and menopause, and the ways these experiences can affect emotional well-being and identity.

I am committed to culturally responsive care and welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds. I also offer space for clients who wish to integrate their Christian faith into the counselling process.

If you are considering therapy and would like support as you navigate what you are facing, I invite you to reach out to book a session.

A bit about me: I bring nearly 20 years of experience in social work supporting individuals and families across diverse community settings. Throughout my career, I have worked alongside people navigating complex life experiences, including grief, trauma, relationship challenges, and significant life transitions. These experiences have deeply shaped the way I approach counselling today.

For the past several years, I have also provided grief counselling in private practice, supporting individuals as they process loss and adjust to life after meaningful change. Grief can take many forms — not only the loss of loved ones, but also the loss of relationships, health, identity, or life as it once was. Walking alongside people through these experiences has been both meaningful and humbling, and it continues to inform my work as I further develop my clinical counselling practice.

My background has also shaped my commitment to culturally responsive care. I have a particular interest in supporting Black individuals, couples, and families as they explore relational patterns, intergenerational experiences, and the impact of racial stressors or anti-Black racism. I am also interested in supporting immigrants and individuals navigating acculturation stress and identity transitions.

At the heart of my work is a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported as you explore your experiences and move toward the changes that feel meaningful in your life.

As someone passionate about supporting individuals through life’s ups and downs, I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your challenges together. My journey into counselling includes my own experience with therapy, which has brought healing and personal growth into my life. I am committed to walking alongside you on your unique path toward healing and self-discovery.

Having lived the immigrant experience myself, I understand the complexities of adjusting to a new culture, the tug-of-war between maintaining your identity and embracing change, and the stigma that can surround seeking help. I also know the resilience and strength it takes to move forward, and I admire the courage to begin that journey.

Using an integrative approach that includes CBT, strength-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, attachment theory, and emotionally focused therapy, I am here to help you process stress and identity struggles, build compassion, and navigate relationships and faith-related challenges.

Together, we can create a sense of safety while exploring your unique story, redefine your sense of self, and build on your strengths to help you thrive in your new context. Hello, it’s nice to meet you. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at Upstream Counselling.

I earned my Master of Divinity at McMaster Divinity College in 2008 and was in pastoral ministry for about 20 years. My counselling journey began through pastoral experiences, where I discovered a deep passion for psychologically and spiritually supporting people. Helping individuals and families explore their faith, find purpose, and navigate life’s challenges has always been at the heart of my work.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and client-centred. Together, we’ll explore your unique worldview, process your concerns, and work toward your healing and personal growth. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard and valued.

Outside counselling, I enjoy playing the piano, singing, cooking, and walking. These activities keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of balance and self-care, which I also encourage in my clients.

You don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. Let’s begin your journey toward healing together.

I can support you in English, Pidgin English and Yoruba.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by events or feelings that seem outside of your control? You are not alone. Life can be A LOT, and to overcome the hurdles we face, we humans need someone to see, hear and accept us as we are – with warmth, compassion and understanding.

I’m here to stand in your corner and support you through life’s currents. Some of the challenges that I specialize in helping others with include: anxiety, depression, anger, obsessive thoughts, ADHD/neurodiversity, stress and burnout, decision fatigue, interpersonal conflicts, narcissistic abuse, and living a meaningful life while achieving life goals.

I take a holistic, trauma-informed, neuro-psychotherapeutic and person-centered approach, drawing from attachment theory, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioural techniques and psychodynamic exploration. I believe we adapt to survive the environments in which we live, and that by exploring and honouring these emotional and mental coping patterns, we can come to a fuller understanding of who we are and what we need to grow.

About Me

A bit about me – I’m a bookworm, a writer, a foodie, an artist, and an animal-lover. My dream is to one day operate and practice on a hobby farm like the one on which I was raised, which incorporates nature, animal, art and somatic therapies with traditional talk therapy.

I completed my undergraduate studies in Creative Writing and have spent the past seven years working as a content creator and graphic designer in a corporate setting. In 2020, I decided to pursue a Master’s in Counselling Psychology to answer a calling I had felt since I was just a kid helping my mom out with her horse-centered wellness program: to help people, and to hear their stories.

Hi, I’m Rachel (I also go by Sin Man, if you’d prefer that). I’m a therapist who believes in creating a calm, supportive space where you can slow down, talk things through, and feel genuinely heard with warmth. My work is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), while also integrating complementary elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Together, these approaches help us explore how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours connect, and support you in moving toward what truly matters with greater flexibility and self-compassion.

Having lived across cultures, I understand how change and transition can shape the way we see ourselves and express our emotions. This experience helps me bring openness and sensitivity to every session, creating a space where you can feel understood and accepted.

I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment challenges, or simply unsure about the next step in life. Some come to therapy to find calm, others to understand themselves better or make changes that feel hard to do alone. My role is to walk beside you, to listen, ask gentle questions, and offer tools that make things feel clearer and more manageable.

Outside of work, I’m someone who enjoys quiet, creative moments, designing digital planners, writing, and making small animations as a form of self-care. I love cozy evenings with my family, hot tea on cold days, and time spent reading or reflecting.

I offer sessions in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin to help clients feel supported in the language that feels most natural to them.

Hi, I’m Alicia (Keyu) Chen.

Welcome, and thank you for considering taking this step toward greater well-being. Life can bring many challenges, and perhaps you’re navigating feelings of stress, anxiety, grief, or even a sense of being stuck or disconnected. These experiences can be isolating, but I want you to know that you don’t have to face them alone. In our sessions, I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore these emotions together, working to bring about clarity, healing, and renewed confidence. My approach is gentle and collaborative, and I adapt our time together to fit your unique needs. Whether you’re seeking practical ways to manage anxiety, support through difficult life transitions, or simply a space to reflect, I’m here to guide you in a way that feels right for you.

For those who find comfort in speaking their first language, I also offer therapy in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

A bit about me: I’m an immigrant with an East Asian background, and my own journey has brought me through many of life’s ups and downs. I know what it’s like to experience anxiety, feelings of separation, and times of loneliness, especially when adjusting to a new country and culture. These experiences inspire my work, particularly my desire to support those who, like me, come from overseas and may be navigating the unique challenges of adapting to a new place while carrying the strength of where they come from.

Outside of my work, I try to keep life full of things that bring me joy. I’m a big fan of jazz and math rock, and I’m always up for a good BBQ with friends. My home wouldn’t feel complete without my black cat, who keeps me company and adds some extra happiness to my days. I genuinely love where I am in life right now, and it’s a joy to help others find that kind of peace, too. In our time together, I aim to create a space that’s safe and open—a place where you can be yourself, explore what matters to you, and find ways to feel grounded and supported.

If you’re ready to start or even just considering therapy, reach out, and let’s explore together how I can support you on this journey toward feeling more grounded and empowered.

Sometimes life can feel hard, and many times, it can feel that we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders, unnoticed, and unheard.

Therapy can be a space for vulnerability, exploration, and growth, a space to share anything that’s on your mind knowing you will be supported, heard, and validated by a caring therapist.

My approach is both client centered and collaborative, acknowledging that we each hold a unique worldview. In therapy, we can explore how this unique lens affects how you view yourself, and others.

Navigating through tough decisions or experiencing unexpected changes in our lives may leave us unsure about ourselves and our values and a desire to reassess our values based on our current life stage. When we understand ourselves better, we are better equipped to address unhelpful thinking patterns and/or behaviours that may be negatively impacting our lives. Whether you are struggling with depression or anxiety, life transitions, or perhaps you are struggling to find your place in an ever-changing uncertain world, therapy can help you find a way to move forward.

“Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle.”

-Lewis Carroll from Alice in Wonderland.

If you have found yourself feeling like you have fallen down the rabbit hole—overwhelmed, untethered or maybe unsure which way is forward—you are not alone in this feeling. When things feel upside down and strange, it can be hard to know where to turn. When you need a safe place to catch your breath, therapy can be a place to come to try to make sense of it all.

I’m Chelsea, a registered qualifying psychotherapist and registered nurse who works with adults navigating trauma, as well as those living with a mental illness. I became a registered nurse in 2016 and my career has been solely dedicated to providing mental health treatment in a variety of settings, including addictions, acute psychiatry and outpatient treatment settings. For the past three years, I’ve worked as a nurse therapist providing psychotherapy to support my clients through some of the most difficult and vulnerable times of their lives.

My passion for psychotherapy led me to pursue my designation as a psychotherapist to compliment my nursing work in the hopes of providing a space for deep, reflective and lasting growth. It is important to me that clients receive treatment that is client-centered and tailored to their unique needs, therefore I like to weave interventions from a range of modalities including Emotion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Internal Family Systems. The heart of therapy is built on the relationship, therefore I like to emphasize the importance of self-agency and autonomy; I like to work collaboratively with my clients to ensure your voice is heard and choices guide the process. My goal is to work with you and alongside you.

If you are feeling a little lost in your own story, lets piece the story together, one page at a time. Feel free to meet for a free consultation to see if we are a good fit.

You may notice that something isn’t right. You may feel that you’re getting in your own way or aren’t the person you want to be. Maybe you’ve decided that there is something about you that is no longer working for you or the people you love. As your psychotherapist, my job is to work with you to understand what is happening, why it’s happening, and guide you towards feeling freer and more alive.

While working with me, you can expect that I will be focused on one thing above all else: understanding you. This means that you and I will be exploring your thoughts and feelings, paying particular attention to those ideas that seem connected in some way to strong emotions. Slowly but surely, by becoming more aware of these strong emotions, the way they affect us, and the ideas linked to them, we can open ourselves up to the full range of our emotional experiences without being overwhelmed by them.

Looking at ourselves deeply and reflectively can be scary; it means being open to discovering things about ourselves that we don’t like. As your psychotherapist, you can count on me to be a helpful guide along this journey, walking alongside you at your pace, pointing out things that might be important, as we explore what makes you, ‘you’, together.

I received a master’s degree in counselling psychology from Yorkville University in 2021 and have been working in the Waterloo region as a psychotherapist since this time. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a childcare worker, youth centre coordinator, transitional case manager, peer support worker, and educational assistant working with high-needs individuals at one of my local high schools in Stratford, ON.

My theoretical approach to psychotherapy is grounded in psychodynamic and client-centred theory. With children, I combine these approaches with child-centered play therapy and psychoeducation based on cognitive behavioural and dialectical behavioural approaches.

On the outside you keep it together, but inside, you feel exhausted, anxious, or like something is missing. Maybe you feel distant in relationships, either with yourself or others, or stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, self-doubt, or harsh self-criticism. Maybe you are living with a chronic illness, carrying the weight of uncertainty, isolation, and frustration. Perhaps you often question whether you are too much or not enough. You have continued to push through, but a part of you is desperately searching for happiness, peace, and a more compassionate way of relating to yourself, others, and your life.

I help young to middle-aged adults explore the roots of relational struggles, whether with others or with themselves, and support those navigating the emotional toll of chronic illness. My own lived experience with chronic illness and the healing I found in therapy inspired me to do this work. I know firsthand how meaningful and essential it is to feel seen and supported, especially if you have never truly experienced this feeling. Together, we will explore how you learned about safety and connection, and help you feel more equipped to handle life.

You deserve support that welcomes all parts of you. I am here to meet you wherever you are on your journey, and to sit with whichever version of you that shows up.

My educational background is rooted in science obtaining a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from Wilfrid Laurier University with a minor in Biology and Psychology and a concentration in Health and Rehabilitation. Also, I have experience and a deep commitment to working with diverse communities, including older adults, family caregivers, and individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

My approach is rooted in relational therapy, and primarily draws from internal family systems, acceptance and commitment therapy, somatic therapy, and attachment theory. I adopt a client-centered and trauma-informed perspective to build a collaborative and meaningful therapeutic relationship that supports your progress. By blending these methods, I strive to meet the unique needs of each client effectively.

Aside from my professional interests, I enjoy spending time in nature and in the sunshine, cooking and baking, being with my dog, and indulging in reality TV. A non-therapeutic dream of mine is to open a takeout restaurant catering to those with dietary restrictions, merging my love for cooking, health, and creating inclusive spaces.

If you are ready to feel more grounded, connected, and at home in yourself, let’s talk. I invite you to email me to schedule a free consultation. We will explore what you are hoping for and whether working together feels like the right next step. I look forward to meeting you!

Sometimes things happen in our lives that change who we are and what we believe about ourselves or the world. If you have experienced abuse, divorce, job loss, health struggles, or other traumatic events, you might struggle to feel safe, lovable, in control, or connected with others. You might feel depressed or anxious, and daily life might feel dull or difficult. You may have tried traditional talk therapy to no avail.

Life doesn’t need to be this hard. You can find joy and meaning and rediscover yourself. In my practice, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) to help you to process your traumas and grow from them, rather than feel burdened by them. EMDR is widely recognized as one of the most effective, efficient trauma therapies available.

Please reach out. I know the first step is scary, but I will be here to support you every step of the way.

As a therapist, I bring a deeply personal understanding of the impact of stress, trauma, and the mind-body connection to my practice. At the age of 23, I confronted panic attacks, depression, and alopecia; experiences that left me feeling helpless, hopeless, and very alone.

Through my own path of self-discovery and resilience, I’ve come to value the profound potential for growth that accompanies moments of trauma. I’ve learned firsthand the importance of embracing one’s inner worth beyond external appearances, cultivating a sense of self-acceptance that transcends societal expectations.

Drawing upon my personal experiences, I offer a distinctive perspective on the intricate relationship between mind and body, and the transformative power of resilience in the face of adversity.

Have you ever been told you are too sensitive? Are you tired of feeling misunderstood? I understand that vulnerability and facing big emotions, like grief or anxiety, can be scary. I want to provide a caring, respectful and non-judgmental environment for you to explore, process and sit with your emotions so that you can show up in your life and relationships with greater courage and authenticity. I want to empower you to discover that sense of a competent self that can deal with existential life issues and become fully alive and fully yourself.

One of the life experiences that led me on this journey to become a therapist was the loss of my father when I was 16 years old. I noticed that talking about and acknowledging the difficult emotions surrounding this loss was uncomfortable for a lot of people around me. I learned at the time that the answer was to push those feelings away. It wasn’t until later in life that I recognized that confronting and talking about those emotions honestly and openly would allow me to heal and become more authentic in my life and relationships. I want you to see that it’s possible and it’s not so scary.

After a 19 year career as an environmental engineer, I knew I wanted to be able to make more of an impact in people’s lives, so I went back to school to complete my Masters in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Being with people and helping them through difficult times has been the greatest honour. My areas of special interest include anxiety, childhood trauma, relationships, loss and grief, and highly sensitive people. I take a humanistic, trauma-informed, holistic approach to therapy that is tailored to your life and needs.

We all deserve some support sometimes and I want to make this journey a little less scary for you. A free 15-minute consultation is always available.

Hello and welcome! I’m Sarah, a Registered Psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with over 12 years of experience in mental health. I genuinely enjoy supporting people as they navigate life’s challenges, and I am also passionate about guiding therapists as they grow in confidence and skill. Over the years, I’ve worked in both EAP and private practice settings, which has given me a broad perspective on supporting people in ways that feel meaningful, practical, and personal.

When you work with me as a client, my goal is to make therapy feel like a safe, welcoming, and collaborative space. I draw on a mix of client-centred and solution-focused approaches, trauma-informed care, CBT, and narrative therapy. I love helping people explore the stories they tell about themselves and their experiences and find ways to shift the parts that might be holding them back. At the same time, I focus on practical tools and strategies that you can use in your day-to-day life. I want therapy to feel helpful, relatable, and empowering, and I’ll work with you at a pace that feels comfortable. My approach is warm, engaging, and encouraging, and I truly enjoy seeing people gain clarity, grow, and feel more confident in themselves.

In my work as a clinical supervisor, I aim to create the same kind of supportive and collaborative environment for therapists. Supervision is a partnership where you can feel challenged, guided, and encouraged as you develop your skills, find your unique voice in practice, and grow in confidence. I enjoy helping therapists navigate the complexities of clinical work while also making space for reflection, creativity, and professional growth.

I want our time together to feel like a steady, supportive pause in your week; a place where you can explore, gain perspective, and reconnect with yourself. Whether you’re coming in as a client or a therapist, my hope is that you leave our sessions feeling clearer, more grounded, and genuinely encouraged about the path ahead.

Your relationships are the most precious thing you have

That’s why my focus is on helping you connect with the people who matter most. By deepening your connection with yourself, you unlock the ability to connect at a deeper level with the people you care about.

Trust is the catalyst

When you come to counselling, you want change, and you want it fast. My clients trust me because of the benefits they experience in their lives and relationships. We’ll collaborate on a plan that clarifies goals and maps out a path to achieving success.

Whether you’re trying to get to the bottom of things, or just trying to stay on top of them, I can help!

I graduated from Briercrest Seminary in 2006 with a Master’s of Arts in Marriage and Family Counselling.

My approach is rooted in Family Systems Theory and mixes Dialogical Behavioural Therapy strategies with a Narrative conversational style.

I have earned a reputation with my clients for being warm and effective in treating anxiety, depression, stress, and all manner of relationship challenges.

People sometimes ask me why I chose to become a psychotherapist. After all, that’s not what guys like me are ‘supposed’ to be into. (Given that around 85% of Registered Psychotherapists are women, I suppose it’s a fair question.) Well, my ‘things changed when’ moment happened when I was 7 years old. My mom and sister died in a car accident. I never got to say goodbye.

One of the ways it changed me was it brought me face to face with the fragility of life. Sooner than I should have, I learned the importance of making the most of every day.

As a psychotherapist, my passion is helping people achieve the insights which empower them to live fuller, more satisfying lives. My favourite part of counselling is the look on someone’s face when they’re experiencing a light-bulb moment, and things click into place. My commitment to you is I will always give my best effort every session because I never know if it might be the last time I get to be with you.

Clients sometimes ask me, “Don’t you get exhausted doing this all day?” Nope. I find it energizing. Relationships are my Why, and psychotherapy is my How.
