Hi, I’m Nicole.
Sometimes things happen in our lives that change who we are and what we believe about ourselves or the world. If you have experienced abuse, divorce, job loss, health struggles, or other traumatic events, you might struggle to feel safe, lovable, in control, or connected with others. You might feel depressed or anxious, and daily life might feel dull or difficult. You may have tried traditional talk therapy to no avail.
Life doesn’t need to be this hard. You can find joy and meaning and rediscover yourself. In my practice, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) to help you to process your traumas and grow from them, rather than feel burdened by them. EMDR is widely recognized as one of the most effective, efficient trauma therapies available.
Please reach out. I know the first step is scary, but I will be here to support you every step of the way.
As a therapist, I bring a deeply personal understanding of the impact of stress, trauma, and the mind-body connection to my practice. At the age of 23, I confronted panic attacks, depression, and alopecia; experiences that left me feeling helpless, hopeless, and very alone.
Through my own path of self-discovery and resilience, I’ve come to value the profound potential for growth that accompanies moments of trauma. I’ve learned firsthand the importance of embracing one’s inner worth beyond external appearances, cultivating a sense of self-acceptance that transcends societal expectations.
Drawing upon my personal experiences, I offer a distinctive perspective on the intricate relationship between mind and body, and the transformative power of resilience in the face of adversity.

Hi, I’m Sam.
You may notice that something isn’t right. You may feel that you’re getting in your own way or aren’t the person you want to be. Maybe you’ve decided that there is something about you that is no longer working for you or the people you love. As your psychotherapist, my job is to work with you to understand what is happening, why it’s happening, and guide you towards feeling freer and more alive. While working with me, you can expect that I will be focused on one thing above all else: understanding you. This means that you and I will be exploring your thoughts and feelings, paying particular attention to those ideas that seem connected in some way to strong emotions. Slowly but surely, by becoming more aware of these strong emotions, the way they affect us, and the ideas linked to them, we can open ourselves up to the full range of our emotional experiences without being overwhelmed by them. Looking at ourselves deeply and reflectively can be scary; it means being open to discovering things about ourselves that we don’t like. As your psychotherapist, you can count on me to be a helpful guide along this journey, walking alongside you at your pace, pointing out things that might be important, as we explore what makes you, ‘you’, together.
I received a master’s degree in counselling psychology from Yorkville University in 2021 and have been working in the Waterloo region as a psychotherapist since this time. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a childcare worker, youth centre coordinator, transitional case manager, peer support worker, and educational assistant working with high-needs individuals at one of my local high schools in Stratford, ON.
My theoretical approach to psychotherapy is grounded in psychodynamic and client-centred theory. With children, I combine these approaches with child-centered play therapy and psychoeducation based on cognitive behavioural and dialectical behavioural approaches.

Hi, I’m Alison (she/her).
Regardless of what brought you here, you are welcomed and accepted.
As a psychotherapist, I believe in meeting my clients exactly where they are – understanding their individual path, honouring their lived experiences, and empowering them to thrive. I hope to create a comfortable and supportive environment where my clients can feel safe and heard. I work collaboratively alongside my clients to empower them toward healing, growth, and self-discovery. Together we work at your pace to uncover your strengths and develop strategies that align with your values and aspirations.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered and strengths-based. I strive to recognize your current strengths and abilities and utilize them to promote positive change. I also tailor my approach to meet the needs of my clients, integrating a variety of modalities.
Whether you have worked with a therapist before, or this is your first experience, I hope to offer you a safe space to explore and grow.
I have always had a passion for helping others and an interest in human behaviour. This led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University. To narrow my scope of practice, I dug deeper, considering what was important to me, as well as what the needs were within our community. I then chose to continue my education through a post-graduate certification in Autism and Behavioral Science. After working in the field in various capacities, I am now completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, which has led me to Upstream Counselling!
My previous experience has afforded me the opportunity to support children, youth, adults, and families all with diverse needs and abilities. I have gained experience in both the private and the public sector which has familiarized me with many of the resources available within our community.
Outside of my profession, I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, and a friend. In my down time, I enjoy reading, indulging in true crime, baking, and taking a good nap. However, what fills my cup the most, is spending time with family and friends - this is when I feel like my most authentic self.

Hi, I’m Dana.
Thank you for reading. Wherever you are in your life right now, I want you to know that you are not alone. You may have found yourself thinking “things just can’t go on like this” or maybe “I need help.” Thank you for taking this courageous first step in investing in yourself. Unfortunately, stigma surrounding going to therapy still exists, meaning many won’t get the care that might change their life. I’m glad you are here to get one step closer to your goals.
Choosing a therapist is not easy, so I will tell you a bit about my approach so you can see if we’d make a good fit. Since therapy is not a one-size-fits-all, I choose to draw from a range of modalities to tailor my approach to find what works best for each of my clients. Some specific modalities I draw from are mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I work with individuals, couples, and families. I am client-centered and prioritize transparency, authenticity, and trust in my practice. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive.
Life is full of challenges, and some challenges are easier to talk about than others. I hope you find the space we cultivate a safe place where you feel the freedom to share the challenges that feel impossible to talk about. Here you will find support, honesty, empathy, and no judgement. If you are ready for the first step toward growth and healing, I am ready to support you along the way!
I’ve always been drawn to psychology. When I was studying Cognitive Science for my bachelor’s, I really started to connect with the idea of using data-driven, evidence-based research to understand human behaviour. The human mind and the way we think is such a complex puzzle, and I find it fascinating to explore why we do what we do and think the way we think. Even though therapy is an art in many ways, there is a scientific basis to how we approach things—and I’m always focused on finding better answers so I can provide better care.
My journey into therapy started with a question: how can I best serve the world and make it a better place? I love the quote by Paul Shane Spear, ‘As one person I cannot change the world, but I can change the world of one person.’ It really resonates with me because that’s what I hope to do through my work. My passion is about helping people, lifting them up, and doing anything I can to make the world a little better—one person at a time.
At one point in my life, I was in a pretty dark place. I know what it feels like to be stuck in the kind of place where you don’t know how to keep going. But I’m here now, and I’m living proof that it’s possible to make it out. That experience is why I do what I do—I want others to know that no matter how deep it feels, there’s always a way through. My mission is to help people realize that whatever they’re going through, they can make it to the other side and feel whole again.
The way I work is a blend of science and empathy. I have a strong foundation in evidence-based practices, but I also know that each person is unique, and therapy is deeply personal. I’m here to work alongside you, to listen without judgment, and to create a safe space where you can heal and grow at your own pace.
I’m not just a therapist—I’m a human who cares, and I truly believe in the power of the work we do together.

I focus on helping individuals identify relational patterns and navigate various emotional challenges, including anxiety, relationship issues, self-compassion, trauma, and women’s concerns.
My educational background is rooted in science obtaining a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from Wilfrid Laurier University with a minor in Biology and Psychology and a concentration in Health and Rehabilitation. My studies led me to a passion for research where I published my undergraduate thesis, and I continue to engage in research to remain updated on the latest discoveries in the mental health space to provide a high-quality of care to you. Also, I have experience and a deep commitment to working with diverse communities, including older adults, family caregivers, and individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
On a personal note, therapy changed my life. I was diagnosed with a chronic illness at 12 years old and partaking in therapy was transformative for my overall well-being. After a hospitalization due to my illness, I came to understand that it’s okay to not always feel okay, to seek help when needed, and that nurturing our mental health is as crucial as taking care of our physical health.
Aside from my professional interests, I enjoy spending time in nature and in the sunshine, cooking and baking, being with my dog, and indulging in reality TV. A non-therapeutic dream of mine is to open a takeout restaurant catering to those with dietary restrictions, merging my love for cooking, health, and creating inclusive spaces.
I welcome you to connect with me so we can discover how I can best support and guide you on your healing journey. I look forward to meeting you!
